A diagnostic centre commissioned in the factory and re-tested on site
Twelve modules forming a community diagnostic centre, with HTM commissioning largely complete before the building left the plant.
The problem
The trust had funding with a spend deadline and a car park as the only available site. A traditional build would not have been watertight before the money expired.
What we did
Mechanical and electrical services were installed and tested in the factory to HTM 03-01 and HTM 06-01, with the trust’s authorising engineer present at first fix and at witness testing. On site the work was reconnection, re-test and validation rather than commissioning from scratch.
Three weeks on site from first crane lift to clinical handover.
What we would do differently
We under-estimated the ground. A car park built over a demolished mill gave us two weeks of unplanned obstruction removal, which we absorbed. On the next one we insisted on trial pits before contract rather than after.
